Luis to be greeted like a hero in Montevideo after he returns from World Cup

The Telegraph

Hundreds of Uruguay fans flocked to Montevideo airfield on Thursday night to give the shamed striker a hero's welcome after he was banned from the World Cup for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Even the Uruguayan president, Jose Mujica, arrived at the international airport at one point, but then returned home once it was revealed that Suarez's flight had been delayed.
I know at this point it's like beating a dead horse, but this is more to make Bob Ley and Alexi Lalas look like the idiots they can sometimes be. "Suarez has disgraced his country. He's brought shame to Uruguay. How will he explain this to his kids?" Dude, he's a HERO in Uruguay. Even after the suspension, which has basically condemned Uruguay to a round of 16 exit from the biggest tournament in the world, they love the guy. They adore him. The fucking president showed up to welcome him back into the country and Suarez didn't even end up showing up! The president of the damn country took time out from doing important shit just to make an appearance of support for an athlete who bit a dude. I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if Suarez makes his way onto Uruguayan currency by the end of the year.
