Jozy officially ruled out of game vs. Germany

ESPN
THIS JUST IN: Jozy Altidore is OUT vs Germany, coach Jürgen Klinsmann says.

Not exactly a surprise, but still shitty news for a US team that's gonna need every player on their roster if they want to get a result against Germany. When I first saw him pull up in the game against Ghana it looked like he'd be out at least 6-8 weeks easy, so honestly US fans should see it as a sign of encouragement that it was even a question of if he'd be back for the game against Germany. Even though his scoring touch hasn't been there for the past 12 months, his presence on the field and physicality makes the US front line an entirely different beast. If he can occupy the opposing team's center backs, it gives Dempsey and Bradley all the more time and space to work their magic. Hopefully he'll be back in time for the semi-finals, the stars and stripes will probably need him by then.
