Carlos Vela to stay at Real Sociedad; signs new contract through 2018
Real Sociedad Official Website
Great news for both Carlos Vela and Real Sociedad. There were rumors of Arsenal recalling him because apparently his buyback fee was set at about 4 million euros (absurdly low, but probably one of the caveats Arsenal made sure they had when they let him go) but it's good news for all parties that he's staying in Spain. Vela's play is much more suited to the Spanish game, and going back to England would likely just stunt the progress he'd made this year in Spain, scoring 21 goals and notching 13 assists in all competitions. Now if only him and the Mexican Federation can get on the same page and find a way to get him back into the fold for the national team. A front three of Giovani, Chicharo, and Vela would be absolutely fucking deadly.
