Hey man, I get it. Despite being a professional athlete, being a player in the MLS still isn't quite the life of luxury in the United States. You can be a normal doofus in the NBA and blow in someones ear and make headlines on sportcenter for weeks, or a decent NFL quarterback and get 24/7 coverage just for partying every weekend. But in the MLS? You have to go above and beyond to get noticed. No normal amount of douchebaggery will ever take you to the next level of stardom. That's why I'm not gonna hate on Dwyer for going megadouche and going for a celebration that would have been lame in high school. Even if selfies haven't been relevant or topical for a while now, this guy just made a name for himself in Kansas City. Talk about living the dream.
p.s. As fucking lame as this was, should the MLS really be discouraging this? I know he got a yellow card, but if the MLS can adopt a reputation as more of an entertainment/anything goes league I feel like thats gonna do much more to break into to American mainstream than just by force-feeding mediocre soccer on the American audience. Especially this soon after the World Cup. Watching the MLS directly after watching the World Cup is like going back to making out with 2s at the bar after lucking out and taking home a 10 the night before.
